Spanish stopper David de Gea was captured on TV as he snubbed to applaud for Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez. Reason? Their spat dated back to the year 2016 in which the star footballer was allegedly involved in under-aged prostitution before the Euro Cup the same year. A prostitute had accused him of organizing a sex party along with a porn director. It was said that a couple of footballers physically and sexually abused her and another woman. Reacting to this, Sanchez had said, “I don't feel comfortable with de Gea as the national team's goalkeeper." This statement by the PM obviously didn’t go down well with De Gea and the Real Madrid placed both his hands and the pocket not applauding for him.
The Spanish stopper donned a serious look that was strikingly and the emotion was strikingly opposite to one of his teammates. The Spanish media was quick enough to claim that de Gea snubbed Sanchez deliberately. Online daily El Espanol wrote, "De Gea ignores and doesn't applaud Pedro Sanchez two years after he 'accused' him of child abuse." Sports daily Marca said, "David de Gea was cold and distant with the Spanish PM."
The goal-keeper back then had vehemently denied all the allegations and said, “I want to refute these allegations. These are lies and mistruths. The matter remains in the hands of my lawyers. It is all false.” The 27-year-old was cleared off all the charged due to lack of evidence against him. David de Gea will soon be seen donning La Roja colours for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The team is placed in Group B along with Portugal, Morocco and Iran.
