Luis Suarez played the first half in his normal position as he set up goals for Loco Abreu and Forlan but later in the second-half took his place in the goal. The Barcelona man did a decent job between the sticks that was until he parried a long-range shot at the feet of Esteban Cambiasso who levelled the game 6-6.
Luis Suarez played as a goalkeeper in Diego Forlan’s farewell game on Saturday. The former Atletico Madrid striker announced his retirement earlier this year and bid adieu to football as took the pitch for the final time in his native Uruguay. The Barcelona striker has terrorized defences on countless occasions over the years but this time it was the 32-year-old’s time to don the gloves. The Barcelona forward was joined by many big-name players such as Sebastian Veron, Estaban Cambiasso and Joan Riquelme among others at the Estadio Centenario Stadium in Montevideo as they took part in Forlan’s testimonial. This was the perfect send-off to one of the football’s most deadliest strikers as the 40-year-old now gears up for a career in management. Diego Forlan will take charge of Uruguayan side Penarol. Luis Suarez, on the other hand, is expected to be back on the pitch in his more familiar role as a striker when Barcelona take on Espanyol in a Catalan derby on Saturday (January 4, 2020).
