Ronaldo was involved in a tangle with a Valencia defender on 29 minutes, and German referee Felix Brych did not hesitate to send the Portuguese for an early shower. He was undoubtedly in tears as he left the field. Just before half-time Daniel Parejo's challenge on Cancelo earned him a yellow card and gave Pjanic the chance to send 10-man Juventus ahead. Five minutes after the break, Pjanic converted his second spot-kick of the night as Jeison Murillo pushed Leonardo Bonucci. But, in stoppage time Valencia were awarded the penalty which was easily saved by Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
As a result of the red card, Cristiano Ronaldo will miss the clash with his former side Manchester United at Old Trafford who recorded an impressive 3-0 win against Young Boys in another Group H match.
