Tottenham Hotspur’s goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was arrested by the police in his car in Central London during the wee hours of the night. It was at 2.30 AM that the footballer failed the roadside breathalyser test and was taken to Charing Cross Police Station. The footballer spent around seven hours before being charged. The Tottenham Hotspur was bailed and will have to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court next month.
Lloris issued an apology to his fans and the club. He, “I wish to apologise wholeheartedly to my family, the club, my teammates, the manager and all of the supporters. Drink driving is completely unacceptable, I take full responsibility for my actions and it is not the example I wish to set.”
The Metropolitan Police said, “A man has been charged following a routine patrol stop in Gloucester Place, W1. Hugo Lloris, 31, of East Finchley, was charged with drink driving on Friday, 24 August. He has been bailed to return to Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 11 September.”
The spokesperson of the club Dan Kilpatrick said that they deal with these matters very seriously. “The Club takes matters such as this extremely seriously and it will be dealt with internally,” read the tweet.

The Spurs will play against Manchester United at the Old Trafford. It is still not clear if Hugo Lloris will be a part of the squad. Lloris is considered to be the best goalkeepers of the Premier League. Having won 104 caps for France, Lloris played a vital role in winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
