It was during the EPL 2019 match between Southampton and Cardiff City, a couple of fans made fun of Emiliano Sala’s death. Emiliano Sala died of a plane crash and his body was recovered from the wreckage under the English channel a couple of days ago. The fans in the stadium were photographed making aeroplane gestures towards the Cardiff supporters. The club has banned them from entering the stadium and issued a press release immediately. "Southampton Football Club can confirm that two fans were detained and had their details taken by police during our match against Cardiff City," the club said in a statement. "Such behaviour has no place in our game and will not be tolerated at St Mary's,” further read the release. The Southampton club also mentioned that they would work with the police to identify the two individuals. The club will be taking an extremely firm stance against anyone involved and intends to ban those supporters identified," they added. See pic below:
Players from both teams observed a minute long silence to mourn the death of the footballer. Cardiff went on to beat Southampton 2-1. Oumar Niasse posted a tweet after the victory and dedicated the win to the Sala.

Players like Mesut Ozil, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi paid tributes to Sala on social media. The official account of the Premier League had also confirmed that the players would wear back bands in honour of Sala.
