Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has been in the eye of the storm ever since Mohamed Salah was forced to walk out of the ground due to an injury during the Champions League Finals against Liverpool in Kiev. Real Madrid crushed Liverpool by 3-1, but the fans blamed Ramos for the injury. The abuses were not limited to social media. A few people got hold of Ramos’ private number and anonymously called him up hurling abuses. They also sent him abusive text messages which forced the Spanish footballer to change his number. Ditto with the members of his family. Mo Salah’s fans even launched a petition to get Ramos punished for the tackle and by now, more than 400,000 people have signed the same.
Even an Egyptian lawyer named Bassem Wahba filed a €1bn suit against Ramos. The Los Blancos defender has finally broken the silence and said, “Bloody hell, they've given this a lot of attention, the Salah thing... I didn't want to speak because everything is magnified. I see the play as it is. He grabbed my arm first and I fell to the other side, the injury happened to the other arm and they said that I gave him a judo hold."
Ramos said that he is in touch with Mo Salah. "I spoke with Salah through messages, he was quite good. He could have played on if he got an injection for the second-half, I have done it sometimes but when Ramos does something like this, it sticks a little bit more.”
