Manchester City Forward Raheem Sterling has withdrawn from the England squad with a back injury. The England team is scheduled to play against Spain and Switzerland in the upcoming UEFA Nations League starting from Saturday.

The England FA released the statement on Monday confirming Sterling’s withdrawal.  However Head Coach Gareth Southgate has no plans to call anyone else to the squad to replace the injured star.

The 23 year old who is often criticized for his lack of cutting edge in front of goal has netted just 2 times in 44 senior appearances for England.
