Pele Funeral: Neymar's Father Attends Brazilian Legend's Wake In Son's Absence

While Neymar has been receiving a lot of flak for not attending Pele's funeral, his father attended the occasion instead of him. In an interview, Neymar's father said that his son asked him to attend the funeral in his absence. A sea of fans had gathered to pay their last respects to the Brazil legend who passed on December 30 after a prolonged battle with cancer.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has announced that FIFA will ask every country to rename one of their stadiums in the name of Brazilian legend, Pele.

Thousands of fans have arrived at the Vila Belmiro Stadium to pay their final tribute to the Brazilian legend Pele.

As fans file past Pele's coffin inside the Vila Belmiro stadium, a large number of fans wait outside the stadium in massive queues. While waiting they sing songs praising the immortal legends of the late King of Football.

Celeste Arantes do Nascimento, mother of Pelé, is 100 years old and lives far from the spotlight in Santos. She is in ill-health yet arrived in the Vila Belmiro to pay his beloved son last respects.

The long wait of fans of bidding the late Brazilian legend one final goodbye finally comes to an end as Pele's open coffin is placed at the centre circle of the Vila Belmiro stadium. Fans have 24 hours to file past it before his funeral tomorrow.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has arrived in Vila Belmiro to attend Late Pele's wake. He said that he hopes there will be a stadium in every country in the world named after Pelé: “all children need to know who that man was”.

Last minute preparations continue inside the Vila Belmiro stadium of Santos FC as Pele's coffin set to arrive within the next one hour for the 24-hour wake. Fans await to give the late Brazilian legend one final goodbye.

Fans from all over the world will have one final chance to bid good buy to Pele as a 24-hour public wake has been arranged in Vila Bellmeiro, Santos FC's (where Pele played for most part of his career) home stadium. Stadium doors will be opened at 10.00 am local time ( 6.30 pm IST). This will be followed by a procession through the streets of Santos, passing Pele's mother, Celeste Arantes' house. Finally, at the end of the procession, Pele will be interred in a special mausoleum at a cemetery in Santos. 

Brazil legend Pele will be laid to rest in a 14-story vertical cemetery. The iconic footballer passed away after a long battle with cancer on Friday, December 30 at a hospital in Sao Paolo. Pele's funeral will be conducted at the Sao Paulo, at Vila Belmiro Stadium, which is the home ground of Santos Football Club. 

As reported by local media in Brazil, the authorities have declared three days of mourning over the demise of football legend Pele. Outgoing Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has signed the decree.

Pele's funeral will take place on January 02, 2023 at Santos F.C.’s home ground- Vila Belmiro, and will go on until morning of January 03. General public will pay their tributes to King of Football. Pele’s private burial will take place on January 03 in the Memorial Necropole Ecumenica.

As Pele, 82, dies after his fight against cancer at the Albert Einstein hospital, sea of people is expected to throng to the funeral of the Brazilian legend. Pele’s funeral will take place in Santos F.C.’s stadium, Vila Belmiro. The arrangements are already underway.

The inevitable has happened! World football is mourning the death of legendary footballer and original GOAT- Pele. He was 82. Pele breathed his last at the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo.

Brazil football legend Pele has reportedly passed away at the age of 82. The former World Cup winner was suffering from cancer and was doing too well. He had been in the hospital for over a month.

Pele's daughter Kely Nascimento posted an update on social media where she shared a picture of her along with her family members and wrote, "we have to look for each other, and hold tight." This comes after reports claiming that the Brazil football legend's health is worsening as he continues his battle against cancer. 

Pele completes one month in the hospital after he was hospitalized on November 29 for reassessment of the cancer treatment.Days later, he was diagnosed with a respiratory infection, receiving the necessary care. Pele underwent surgery to remove the tumor on September 4 last year.He was stable after the surgery but had to return to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on September 17, after suffering from respiratory instability. He is currently admitted at the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sau Paulo.
