Mohamed Salah Injury Update: Egypt Star Confident of Playing in the FIFA World Cup 2018

As Egypt gear up for their first football World Cup campaign since 1990, the team is sweating over Salah’s availability.

Egypt and Mohamed Salah fans will have their fingers crossed as they wait for their football star to recover from a dislocated shoulder he suffered during Sunday’s Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool. Real Madrid were crowned Champions following a 3-1 victory. Teary-eyed Salah had to leave the field in Kiev within half an hour of the game after Real captain Sergio Ramos pulled the Liverpool forward and landed on his shoulder, leaving it dislocated.

As Egypt gear up for their first football World Cup campaign since 1990, the team is sweating over Salah’s availability. His absence could well hurt team big time. However, Salah is confident of featuring in the World Cup despite the serious injury. “It was a very tough night, but I'm a fighter. Despite the odds, I'm confident that I'll be in Russia to make you all proud. Your love and support will give me the strength I need,” Salah wrote on his Twitter.

Meanwhile, Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa in a series of tweets has claimed that the Liverpool star was “robbed” of playing in the final. “The toughest 24 hours of my life... “I will not shy away from saying it would have been a different story had he remained on the field... without a shadow of a doubt,” he added in one of his tweets.

Egypt, placed in Group A alongside hosts Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Uruguay, will open their World Cup campaign on 15 June against Uruguay in Yekaterinburg. Four days later, Egypt will then face home side Russia on June 19 and play their last Group Phase match against Saudi Arabia on June 25.
