According to a report from the Mirror, Manchester United are growing increasingly confident of appointing Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino as their permanent manager this summer. The Argentine is the number one target to take the hot-seat at Old Trafford and could well be available for the role. Ralf Ragnick was appointed as an interim manager by the Red Devils. But the German is set to take up a two-year consultancy role at the end of the season. Mauricio Pochettino was appointed as PSG manager in January 2021 but the Parisians could soon part ways with the Argentine after a mixed 13 months.
The Argentine manager has built a great reputation for himself during his spell in charge with Tottenham Hotspur where he took the club to their maiden Champions League final. But his time at PSG has been a rather unhappy one. Inconsistent performances despite having some of the best players in the world have raised doubts in the hierarchy’s mind if he is the right man for the job and are ready to let him leave in the summer.
The Paris side were unable to defend their league crown last season and have started the new campaign inconsistently, leading Ligue 1 but were recently knocked out of the French Cup by Nice. Zinedine Zidane is tipped to take over the managerial duties in Paris.
