Manchester United's left-back, Luke Shaw, has been awarded as Manchester United’s 'Player of the Month' for August, following his amazing performances in the month. Shaw had earned the majority of votes cast by fans in a poll on the club's official website and app. It happens to be his first-ever monthly award, in which he pipped fellow nominees, Fred and Paul Pogba.

From being in the bad books of club manager Jose Mourinho, to be one of his ‘untouchables’, Luke Shaw has come a long way in making his mark at Manchester United.

Signed from Southampton for British Pound 30 million, then a world record transfer fee for a teenager in 2014, Shaw has struggled with form and fitness. Issues with Mourinho have only made matters worse, so much so that he once said, “He was playing with his body and my brain,” after a match against Everton at Old Trafford.

The left-back has been United's standout performer this season, which has been marred with below-par results and off-field controversies, so far. Shaw netted the first goal of his senior career while scoring in the opening-day win against Leicester. The goal was also adjudged as the 'Goal of the Month' award.

Shaw has started in all of United's four Premier League games so far, earning praise from his Manager Jose Mourinho. Shaw posted a message on United's official website saying, “Thank you for your support and for voting me as Player of the Month. We’ve got the international break now, and when we come back, we can focus on winning games for us and you”.

Manchester United will be playing their next game against Watford, which will be an away fixture, on 15th September, after the culmination of the international break.
