Uruguay international Luis Suarez is hoping that the injured Liverpool and Egypt striker Mohamed Salah recovers on time for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2018, which starts on June 14. Salah suffered the shoulder injury during the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool. Real defender Sergio Ramos fell on Salah’s shoulder during a challenge and that resulted in the latter being ruled out of the contest within 30 minutes.

Egypt opens their world cup campaign against Uruguay on June 15 in Yekaterinburg and Suarez wants to play against Salah. “Regarding Salah, the reality is that no-one is happy when a colleague suffers an injury,” Suarez was quoted as saying by the metro.co.uk.

“That’s especially the case when that happens in a match as it did, just before a World Cup. He is in a difficult situation, but I’ve consistently said I always want to play against the best to demonstrate that Uruguay are better,” he added.

Suarez recalled how he was in "same situation" four years back after suffering a knee injury ahead of the 2014 World Cup and hopes the Egyptian star recovers on time. “I would love him to have a good recovery and enjoy the World Cup. He is in the same situation as me four years ago and I don’t wish this on anyone,” Suarez said.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's medical team believes it will take Salah three to four weeks to recover from the injury. There is a possibility that Salah will miss Egypt’s opening fixture and could well be back for the game against home side Russia on June 19. Egypt, placed in Pool A, also take on Saudi Arabia (on June 25) in the Group Phase of the world cup.
