He returned to training and was expected to join the first team earlier this week. Lionel Messi Injury Update and Possible Return Date

The star Argentine missed 20 of 35 matches for Inter Miami this season and currently was on course to make his return to competitive games. After nearly two months of layoff, Messi started to practice with the side and even worked hard on rehab. According to the Miami Herald, a source with knowledge of Messi's absence confirmed that the footballer had a sore throat, and was not feeling well.  They also confirmed that Messi is expected to return to practice in the coming days and added that Messi’s absence from training on Wednesday was not related to the injury. Inter Miami CF will face Philadelphia Union next on September 15 and fans might see Lionel Messi coming off the bench to have some game time before making it to the first team.
