Lionel Messi-led Argentina bowed out from the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia after a humbling defeat by France. As per reports, a 20-year-old boy has allegedly committed suicide after the Argentinian team failed to register a spot in the quarter-finals. Argentina had suffered to a 4-3 loss against the French team in their knock-out match on Saturday.

As per a Times Now report, a 20-year-old boy from Malda district, in West Bengal, was found hanging in his room on Sunday morning. The boy’s (Mantosh Haldar) father said that he was a die-hard football fan and loved both Argentinian legends, Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi. Mantosh used to watch a lot of football; however, after Argentina’s loss on Saturday, he seemed very upset and didn’t talk to us even. On Sunday morning, he was found hanging in his room.

The police have ordered a probe into the matter and have spoken to the deceased family’s members. The police official probing the matter said that he seemed to have committed suicide after his favourite team lost at the World Cup.

This is not the first time a Lionel Messi fan has committed suicide this World Cup. A week ago, a youth from Kerala was found dead too; a couple of days after he had fled from his home after Argentina had lost to Croatia 3-0 in their second group stage match.

There are speculations doing the rounds if they will be able to see Lionel Messi at the next FIFA World Cup in Qatar that will take place in the year 2022. Messi, who turned 31 last week, will be nearing 35 at the time of 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
