Lionel Messi went on to beat Cristiano Ronaldo for bagging the UEFA Forward of the Season 2019 Award.  The two arch-rivals had been nominated alongside Liverpool’s Sadio Mane who stood on number two with 2019 points. Messi stood on number one with 285 points. Whereas, Cristiano Ronaldo stood on number three with 91 points.

No sooner, Messi won the award, the award, Barcelona posted a tweet to congratulate the star. Seat right beside his arch-rival CR7, the Juventus star was seen cheering for the winner as he walked up to the podium to collect the gong. Check out the tweet below:

Messi was chosen by the juries that comprised the coaches of the 32 clubs in the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League group stage, together with 55 journalists selected by the European Sports Media (ESM) group, representing each of UEFA's member associations. However, the coaches of the team were not allowed to vote for the player from their own club.
