It is harrowing times if you are a Leicester City player with so much happening on and off the pitch. Last week’s helicopter crash claimed the life of their beloved owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha which brought the entire footballing community together in the Foxes’ hour of grief. Then there was a tough away game in the English Premier League which Leicester City won showing great mental strength and character. The Thai owner had a special relationship with not only his players but the entire community as a whole. It was under his leadership that Leicester City did the unthinkable and managed to win the EPL title in 2015. It is till date one of the greatest sporting stories we will ever witness and the man who made it possible is no longer with us. Vichai was a man who believed in giving back to the community. He cleared the debt of the club while also donating 2 million pounds to build a local hospital which goes to show he was more than just an owner of a football club. The fans absolutely adored the Thai businessman and he had a special relationship with them.

For many players liked Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy, the 2015-16 made them household names of English football. Even when Mahrez wanted to leave for Manchester City, Vichai supported the Algerian’s decision as he eventually completed the transfer. The Danish international was one of the first persons to rush to the scene of the crash and has been visibly distraught at multiple occasions since then. It is clear that Vicahi has become an immortal part of Leicester City’s club history and will live as long as the club is in existence.

Demarai Gray Booked for Unveiling t-shirt

Meanwhile, Leicester winger Demarai Gray was shown a yellow card after he unveiled his t-shirt to dedicate a goal to Vichai during Saturday’s Premier League clash against Cardiff. The 22-year-old netted the first goal and then removed his jersey to reveal the message ‘For Khun Vichai.’ Subsequently, he was shown Yellow card by the referee Lee Probert.
