NorthEast United and Kerala Blasters will hope to salvage some pride in an otherwise lost season when they face each other in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2019-20. NorthEast United also return to their home turf for the first time since December 18 last year when their match against Bengaluru FC was shifted out of the city owing to unrest and raging protests against CAA in the city. Their season have spiralled down after starting on a high and the Highlanders now find themselves winless in their last nine matches with their last victory in ISL 6 coming in November last year.
Kerala Blasters went through a similar run of nine winless games but looked to have resurrected their season when they beat two-time ISL champions ATK on their own turf and followed it with a 5-1 drubbing of the bottom-placed Hyderabad. But defeats in all of their last three matches, in which they have conceded 12 times, have ruled Kerala Blasters out of the playoffs race. Both sides played a 1-1 draw in an earlier meeting this season.
