ISL 2019–20 FCG vs JFC Result: Sergio Castel’s First-Half Strike Helps Jamshedpur Edge 10-Man FC Goa

FC Goa nearly equalised — at least they thought they did – when two minutes away from half-time Bedia headed Jackichand’s cross into wide-right of Jamshedpur’s net but the goal was not awarded despite replays suggesting that the ball may have crossed the line. This was after debutant Jitendra Singh struck the crossbar with a rocket long ranger from outside the penalty box.

Sergio Castel scored the winning goal as Jamshedpur edged a 10-man FC Goa 1-0 in 2019-20 Indian Super League (ISL) at the Fatorda Stadium in Margao on November 26, 2019 (Tuesday). The victory, Jamshedpur’s third in five ISL 2019-20 matches, took them to second in the team standings. Goa, having suffered their first defeat in the ongoing ISL season, dropped below to fourth in the ISL points table. Castel’s goal – his fourth in 2019-20 ISL – came in the 17th minute after he had sent Goa defender Moturda Fall crushing with a clever first touch from a Farukh Choudhary delivery. His goal, which eventually proved to be the winner, was Jamshedpur’s first away victory in 11 matches across all competitions spanning last two Indian domestic seasons. FC Goa Vs Jamshedpur FC - Live Football Score.

Goa, who were without main striker Ferran Corominas and also missed Seiminlen Doungel and Hugo Boumous due to suspensions, have now gone winless in their last three games against Jamshedpur FC. The 0-1 loss also put an end to their four-match unbeaten streak in ISL 2019-20, took of which were draws. Despite the defeat, it was Goa, who started well and should have really scored in the seventh-minute when Edu Bedia – after a spell of ball possession – found Jackichand Singh on the eight edge of Jamshedpur box. But Jamshedpur goalie Subrata Paul was up to the task and not just denied Singh but also saved the rebound shot from Lenny Rodriguez.

Jameshpur’s first opportunity came in the 12th minute when Farukh found CK Vineeth unmarked with a cross from right wide. But Vineeth, who was making his first start since moving from Chennaiyin in the summer, fired wide with an audacious volley. But while Vineeth missed the target, Castel found the net five minutes later.

Noe Acosta found Farukh on the right and the Indian youngster, who made his first Indian appearance on the back of a spectacular performance earlier this season, evaded Mandar Rao Desai and found Castel. The Spaniard, on loan at Jamshedpur from Atletico Madrid, first dinked the ball above Fall with a cheeky first-touch before finding the right corner of Goa’s goal with a volley.

Goal or Save?

Goa nearly equalised — at least they thought they did – when two minutes away from half-time Bedia headed Jackichand’s cross into wide-right of Jamshedpur’s net but the goal was not awarded despite replays suggesting that the ball may have crossed the line. This was after debutant Jitendra Singh struck the crossbar with a rocket long ranger from outside the penalty box.

Jackichand, who set up Bedia for what appeared to be the equalising goal, himself had an opportunity to make it 1-1 to Goa when presented with an open goal. Minutes later, Goa were down to 10-man after Ahmed Jahouh was given marching orders for a second bookable offence.
