The Indian Super League (ISL) 2018-19 season is all set to begin on September 29, i.e. Saturday. Indian Super League happens to be one of the most loved professional football leagues in India. This year, franchises have revamped their squads after the transfers that took place preluding to this season. As ISL 2018-19 nears, we take a look at the list of foreign players in the league that fans should look forward to.

1. Tim Cahill | Jamshedpur FC

The Australian national Tim Cahill’s association with Jamshedpur FC is one of the most significant signings for the ISL. He has played exceptionally well at both international and club level in his stellar career. Cahill’s vast experience will help bolster Jamshedpur FC’s quest for ISL 2018-19 glory!

2. John Johnson | ATK

ATK roped in John Johnson for the current season of ISL. The English football player was a key to The Blues (his previous club) success in all the previous editions. Johnson’s addition to the two-time ISL champions’ team will bolster their defence manifold. Will it help the two-time champion become a three-time champion or not, will be an enjoyable watch in ISL 2018-19!

3. Marcelinho | FC Pune City

Marcelo Pereira a.k.a Marcelinho, is a famous face in the ISL. Marcelinho had a dream debut in ISL 2016 as he won the Golden Boot in his very first season in the league. The Brazilian footballer was signed by FC Pune City, last season and helped him reach their best-finish in the league’s history. It will be interesting to see what magic he weaves in ISL 2018-19!

4. Ferron Corominas | FC Goa

Ferron Corominas, popularly known as Coro, had a great start to his ISL career. Coro won the Golden Boot award last year, as he scored 18 goals in 20 matches – which also happens to be the record number of goals in a single season. Coro’s playmaking will be the key to FC Goa’s chances of ISL 2018-19 trophy victory!

5. Kalu Uche | ATK

The Nigerian national has played most of his footballing career in Spain. In his third season of ISL, he will be playing for the third franchise, after playing for FC Pune City and Delhi Dynamos in the previous two seasons. Uche scored 13 goals and had two assists to his name during the last season. Much of ATK’s chances to ISL 2018-19 glory would depend on how Ulche performs in the playfield.

The season will be the fifth edition of ISL, since its inception in 2014. The tournament opener will see the two-time champion ATK take on their arch-rival Kerala Blasters.
