Sunil Chhetri a few days back in a video message requested fans to come to the stadiums and watch Indian football team play. “I mean it’s not fun to criticise and abuse on the internet. Come to the stadium, do it on our face, scream at us, shout at us, abuse us, who knows one day we might change you guys, you might start cheering for us,” said Chhetri in a video which apparently went viral. Now it seems, the Indian football team captain’s appeal might actually work. As per various reports, India vs Kenya Intercontinental Cup football match at the Mumbai Football Arena has been sold out.
Chhetri will be making his 100th international appearance and to achieve the landmark in front of the home crowd will only boost the Indian captain. Meanwhile, the stadium reportedly has a capacity of 10-15,000 and is expected to be jam-packed.

Following Chhetri’s message, Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli and former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar supported the footballer and requested fans to watch the matches in stadiums.
Meanwhile, India will be looking to extend their winning run in the tournament. In the opening match, Chhetri scored a hat-trick that helped India defeat Chinese Taipei 5-0 in front of near about empty stadium. Kenya, on the other hand, defeated New Zealand 2-1. Following the match against Kenya, India will take New Zealand on June 07 at the same venue.
