The Indian football team will be playing the third match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers between India and Bangladesh. The match will be held at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on October 15 2019. Placed in Group E of the round two joint qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, India enjoys a healthy record against Bangladesh. The teams have met each other on 28 occasions, Bangladesh has won only a couple of games. The Blue Tigers have emerged victories in 15 games. The Blue Tigers ended their last game against Qatar with a historic draw by 0-0. Ahead of the game against Bangladesh, head coach Igor Stimac said that Rahul Bheke is fit for the game. However, India’s star footballer Sandesh Jhingan will be missing out on the game after he picked an injury during a friendly game against ISL side NorthEast United. Ahead of the match, the Indian team was seen sweating it out in the nets.

According to Indian National Physio Gigy George, Sandesh has suffered from an ACL tear on the left knee and could be away for about six months. The physio further informed that Sandesh’s rehabilitation will be monitored closely. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, who stood tall against Asian champions termed Sandesh's absence as 'a big loss' for the Blue Tigers. "It's really sad. It's a big loss for us, especially at this moment. I could imagine how would he feel missing this game but he's a strong guy and he'll come back strongly soon," Sandhu said.
