Funny Football Video: Referee Accidentally Scores Goal in Dutch Fourth Division League, Awards It to Himself!

Have you ever seen referees score a goal in football? Referee Maurice Paarhuis managed to score one goal during a melee inside the penalty box. The incident took place during a 'Derde Divise' (name of Dutch fourth-tier league) match between Harkemase Boys and HSV Hoek last Saturday. The Harkemase Boys, a Frisian amateur football club, tweeted a video of the incident and expressed their disbelief over the goal. “Never experienced this,” captioned the club to the post.

In the video, referee Paarhuis is seen charging into the penalty box as he follows the game. The Harkemase boys has just survived a scare after a shot beneath the goalkeeper’s legs is somehow cleared by a last-ditch tackle and hits the post in the 66^th minute.

But immediately after Harkemase clears away the danger, Hoek midfielder Rik Impens takes another shot at goal. But the ball hits the post before clattering into the referee’s legs and crossing the goal-line. A Harkemase defender clears the ball but only after it has crossed the line.

Referee Paarhuis then surprisingly allows the goal to stand amidst a vicious protest from the Paarhuis players. Thankfully, however, the goal mattered little in the end as Harkemase ran-out 4-2 winners.

The shocking goal had opened up the game making it 3-2 to Harkemase, who at one point led 3-0. The goal certainly made them nervous, before Harkemase completed the victory.
