Fans showing their love and throwing fireworks on the field to celebrate their team’s win is normal in football. While there are bans on certain fireworks in many stadiums considering the environmental hazards and also the safety of the players and spectators in the stadium. Unfortunately, 26-year-old Fabio Schifano suffered a ‘possible’ career-ending injury due to such firework thrown on the field. The 26-year-old Fabio scored a brace and was celebrating the win. To put away the firecracker he lifted the same but unfortunately, it blasted in his hands. He was taken to the hospital and after three surgeries, he has completely lost one finger and has suffered serious injuries to two other fingers. The player while speaking to media house Het Laaste Nieuws said, "We were dancing happily, celebrating the victory together. Suddenly I saw something being thrown from the stands. I thought it was a smoke bomb.” Later talking about the injury he added, “My index finger is completely gone, as well as half of my thumb and middle finger.  On Sunday I had two operations on my hand. The firework was thrown from the stands by a spectator supporting Fabio’s side. Fabio thought it was a smoke bomb, but it turned out to be a Cobra - an illegal fireworks that are banned in both the Netherlands and Belgium. The player also suffered injuries to his legs in the accident. The star raised concerns over his ability to play but vows to fight back.
