With the English Premier League (EPL) transfer window for the 2019-20 football season closing in few hours, Arsenal has not just secured a record deal for long term target Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney, but also Premier League rivals Chelsea centre-back, David Luiz. After going through the entire summer transfer window trying to bolster their weak defence, Arsenal looks to have hit a blockbuster on deadline day. With the English Premier League (EPL) transfer window for the 2019-20 football season closing in few hours, Arsenal has not just secured a record deal for long term target Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney, but also Premier League rivals Chelsea centre-back, David Luiz. Reports claimed that Luiz will sign a two-year deal with the North London club, while Tierney has been offered a five-year contract. Reports earlier had claimed Brazilian defender Luiz was training alone away from the squad and has put a transfer request at the club. Luiz reportedly has been informed by Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard that he does not fit into the Chelsea legend’s plan at the club. TierneGty, on the other, has been long speculated to be one of Unai Emery’s prime target this transfer window as the Spanish coach looks to strengthen his faulty defence. Arsenal Have Reached an Agreement With Two Defenders
Arsenal earlier had two bids rejected by Celtic for the Scottish left-Back but both clubs seems to have finally reached a £25m agreement which will see Tierney travel to North London for his medical in the final hours of EPL transfer window and sign a five-year deal.
"I've said the last few days it wouldn't surprise me," Celtic boss Neil Lennon told BBC when asked on the possibility of losing Tierney on transfer deadline day. If he goes, he goes with everyone's best wishes. He's an outstanding talent and a great kid." Tierney sat out of Celtic’s 1-1 draw with Romanian club CER Cluj on Wednesday as the left-back is still recovering from the Hernia operation he underwent at the end of last season.
Meanwhile, the Arsenal boss had earlier stated that the club will try and sign another centre-back on deadline day. “If we can on the last day, we will try to sign another centre-back, but one who has the capacity to help us,” Emery had said after Arsenal conceded 51 goals last season and are set to play their third consecutive season in the Europa League.
