A battered Mumbai City FC will take on FC Goa in the second leg of the semi-final with a mountain to climb in order to make it to the finals. The Islanders were given a footballing lesson in their 1-5 thrashing at the hands of Goa. There has never been a comeback of such magnitude in the history of the ISL which makes Mumbai’s task close to impossible. But pride is something they will be playing for in the second leg and that can only be restored with a win in Goa. FC Goa vs Mumbai City FC.

The attacking riches of FC Goa allowed them to slowly get into the first leg and take control of their match. Jackichand Singh, Brendon Fernandes and Ferran Corominas were brilliant in attack. The trio created several chances and was all on the scoresheet. Mourtada Fall was the leader at the back for the Gaurs who kept Mumbai at bay and also contributed with two goals. It is highly unlikely any of these superstars would be rested by Sergio Lobera as he has made it clear the tie is still not over. He spoke highly of his opponents Mumbai in the pre-match press conference which tells us he is keeping his forces grounded despite the position.

Mumbai City needs Modou Sougou and Rafael Bastos to have the game of their career as the need plenty of goals. Paulo Machado would rue not taking his chances in the previous game as he will slot in behind the midfield to dictate the tempo. Lucian Goan and Anwar Ali must perform better than they did in the first leg as they cannot afford another beating at the hands of Goa. Edu Bedia made 85 passes in the first leg and Goa would want another similar performance from the Spaniard today.

Mumbai will leave gaps at the back in search of goals and another thrashing is just around the corner for the Islanders. FC Goa will be patient in their build-up and the tie looks a mere formality.
