In a video which has gone viral on social media, it was seen that Palmeiras players were preparing for a corner in the 29th minute when the pig's head was seen just on the edge of the pitch. A Corinthians player also spotted the same in quick time and rushed to it, kicking it away from the area of play. The video of the same has gone viral and has expectedly left many questioning how the ones responsible for this could get the pig's head into the stadium past the security. However, the pig's head was not just a mere way to cause distraction in the game but much more than that. Palmeiras is commonly known as 'Porco' or 'Pig' by rival fans as a derogatory nickname used during World War II. However, Palmeiras in the year 1986, officially adopted the pig (Porco Gobbato) as their second mascot in 2016 apart from a parakeet (Periquito). In 2017, a Palmeiras fan had also carried a live pig inside the stadium during a match. Meanwhile, Corinthians rode on goals from Rodrigo Garro and Yuri Alberto to Palmeiras 2-0 in the 'Derby Paulista'.
