The inherent danger to life in sports has always been discussed but it is an issue that's often pushed under the carpet because to be frank, the modern competitive sports does come with its share of threat to life. While chances of serious injuries always exist, there have been several death in sports which have taken place on the field and can directly be related to the sport. And experts believe that Football is one such game where the threat of a serious or long term harm to the head (due to repeated knocks) is common. The recent case of a 25-year-old Croatian footballer, Bruno Boban, who collapsed and died on the field after getting struck by the ball is further proof of the fact. The tragic event was caught on the camera and is heart-breaking to say the least.

Local media reports say the Marsonia player, who was hit by the ball seemed alright initially but collapsed on the field a few moments later. This happened during a Croatian Third Football League game against the team Slavonija Pozega. There is a Youtube video footage of the incident:
Reports mention that the team’s medics rushed to the field and tried to save Bruno who had become unconscious. They tried to revive him unsuccessfully for 40 minutes and when they couldn't, Bruno was declared dead, said the Croatian Football Association. Bruno's team paid a tribute to the player with a Facebook post and described it as a "tragic loss."
