Cristiano Ronaldo's Consective Scoring Record Debunked by Ghana's Asamoah Gyan, Claims 'Not Given Fair Shake' in Explosive Tweet!
Striker Gyan, who now plays for Kayserispor in Turkey, has found the target at three World Cups and six African Nations Cup tournaments which makes it nine major tournaments in a row, one more than Ronaldo, who is being accredited with the record now. The 32-year-old striker is surely not letting this record go away for him. He has also found support by many, both on Twitter as well in the footballing fraternity.
Kayserispor striker and Ghana's Asamoah Gyan refuted that Cristiano Ronlado is the first man to score goals in eight consecutive major international tournaments after his exploits in the match against Spain in Portugal's opening game in FIFA Russia World Cup 2018. The Ghanaian took to Twitter and wrote that "People disregard my achievements in the World Cup history but I want the whole world to know that I have not been given the fair shake but records will remain forever."
Ronaldo, who was at his absolute best against Spain in Portugal's opening encounter on Friday, managed a hat-trick and became the oldest player to do so in the World Cups. However, he was also attributed another record which the Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan said belongs to him and has also found support from various quarters. He retweeted an image with a comparison chart showing overview of goals at major tournaments scored by him and Ronaldo:
He took to Twitter to express his pain at being denied the record and also said that he hasn't been treated "fairly".
