There has been a never-ending debate about of the two football stalwarts is better Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi.  The fans of the respective football stars have had this debate for donkey’s years and continue to do so when one of them scores a terrific goal or shatters records. The debate has still not come to a concrete conclusion and this is why the two football stalwarts are put against each other. Now, former Manchester United legend makes his pick and chooses Barcelona star Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo and labelled the Argentine as the best footballer on earth. The conversation happened during an interview with DAZN. Virgil Van Dijk Feels Messi Should Win Ballon d'Or. 

Ryan Giggs said, “Obviously I lean towards Ronaldo a little bit because I played with him and saw him develop as a player,” the 45-year-old said. However, in the next statement, Giggs made a clear choice between the two players and said, “But Messi is a genius, he’s a once in a lifetime player. It’s as simple as that.” Recently Messi lifted his sixth European Golden Shoe award, after top-scoring in all of Europe’s top-five footballing leagues in the 2018-19 season.

The two have also been locking horns for the Ballon’de Or 2019-20. In the month of May, the two had been nominated for UEFA Best Forward Of The Year wherein Messi walked away with the honour. The Portuguese star shook hands with Messi but surely wasn’t pleased with the Barcelona star walking away with the gong. Now the fans would be eager to see who between the two bags the Ballon d' Or 2019.
