The footballer was accused of rape by a lady named Kathryn Mayorga and she accused Ronaldo of a sexual assault that happened in 2009 in Las Vegas. Since then not many updates have come out about the case. A few days ago, CR7 was served with court papers in the US. Which means the case would be adjudged without a trial to compel arbitration. The proceedings would also remain private and would be decided by an expert mediator. Kathryn Mayorga’s decision is unknown but it is reported they also need more time to answer the 11 complaints, including battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, coercion and fraud, abuse of a vulnerable person, racketeering and civil conspiracy. Time and again the Juventus striker has denied any wrongdoing in public. In fact during the live chat on Instagram with his fans, CR7 said the news was fake. “No, no, no, no, no. What they said today? Fake, fake news. They want to promote [themselves by using] my name. It's normal. They want to be famous to say my name, but it is part of the job. I am a happy man and all good.” Back then it was reported that the footballer had agreed to pay her USD 375,000 to not speak up about the incident.
