It’s been quite a disastrous year for Cristiano Ronaldo as he has encountered the worst goal scoring year. He had already lost major honours like UEFA Forward of the Year Award and the Ballon d’Or 2019 to his arch-rival Lionel Messi. Now, here’s another jolt that awaited the Juventus star. Ronaldo failed to register his name in the FIFA 20 Team of the Year which was presented by EA Games. Whereas his arch-rival Lionel Messi made it to the list. Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was also not a part of the team. Cristiano Ronaldo Scripts History After His Hat-Trick Against Cagliari, Becomes the Only Player To Have Hit Hat-Tricks in Italy, England, Spain & World Cup.
Instead of the Juventus star, there were several other names like Sadio Mane and Kylian Mbappe. Five names from the Reds have made it to the list for the FIFA 20 Team of the Year. A couple of players were included from the Catalan Giants. Ronaldo might have won the league title and also had scored his 99th international goal, but that wasn’t enough and the former Real Madrid player did not make it to the XI. Check out the full list below:
Sadio Mané - Liverpool
Kylian Mbappé - Paris Saint-Germain
Lionel Messi - FC Barcelona
Kevin De Bruyne - Manchester City
Frenkie de Jong - FC Barcelona
N’Golo Kanté - Chelsea
Trent Alexander-Arnold - Liverpool
Virgil van Dijk - Liverpool
Matthijs de Ligt - Piemonte Calcio
Andrew Robertson - Liverpool
Alisson – Liverpool
The players were chosen on the basis of voting and this was the first time that the company allowed the fans to have a say in the team. EA previously said, “For the first time, you can have your say on who makes the FIFA 20 Team of the Year. Choose the Ultimate XI from the squad of 55 players who lit up the world of football in 2019 and your vote will count towards the final FIFA 20 Team of the Year."
