‘Cristiano Ronaldo Doesn’t Know How to Play Football’ Former Real Madrid Star Antonio Cassano Criticises Al-Nassr Captain For ‘Selfish Gameplay’

Cristiano Ronaldo is regarded as one of the finest strikers of the game and recently created history by netting his 900th career goal. But former Real Madrid star Antonio Cassano was not impressed with the stat and went on to make a bold statement claiming Ronaldo doesn’t know how to play football.

Football is a team game. It’s team efforts that win matches and titles for any team. However, some players are more impactful in the team with high productivity and result-driven outputs. Cristiano Ronaldo is one such megastar who is lethal in front of the goal and can single-handedly out-score the opposition to win matches. The star has consistently shown his ability to score with different teammates and even in different circumstances to win matches for his sides. Cristiano Ronaldo Thanks Head Coach Luis Castro Following Al-Nassr Sacking.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner recently created history by scoring his 900th career goal and became the only player to reach the milestone. With his current form, the star is destined to reach the 1000-goal mark. While everyone is praising Ronaldo for his feat, former Real Madrid star and Italy International Antonio Cassano criticized the Al-Nassr captain claiming that Cristiano Ronaldo is ‘Selfish’.

What Antonio Cassano Said About Cristiano Ronaldo?

Talking on the Viva El Futbol podcast, Cassano made a bold claim and went on to defend his argument with examples of other star strikers. The 39-cap Italian international said: "Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't know how to play football. He could score 3,000 goals, I don't give a f***. [Gonzalo] Higuain, [Sergio] Aguero, [Karim] Benzema, [Robert] Lewandowski, [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic, and [Luis] Suarez knew how to link up with the team. They knew how to do a lot of things, unlike Ronaldo whose only objective has always been to score.” Cristiano Ronaldo Congratulates Al-Nassr Teammates After 2–1 Victory Over Al-Hazem in King Cup of Champions 2024–25, Says 'Well Done!' Cassano was the ‘most expensive young football’ during his time and played for many big clubs like Real Madrid, AC Milan, Inter Milan, and AS Roma. He was also one of the rising stars in football who retired in 2018. Cassano, in 2022, called on Ronaldo to hang up his boots as he was out of favour at Man Utd. While Ronaldo is aware about the people’s criticism for his style of play, he already had addressed the same in one of his episodes on ‘UR.Cristiano’ YouTube Channel.
