Premier League giants Chelsea are in pursuit of RB Leipzig star forward Timo Werner according to the reports emerging from England. The German forward has been in red-hot form this season as he has netted 23 goals in 24 appearances for the Bundesliga side and has played an important role in them leading their domestic league. Chelsea have their transfer ban lifted and will be able to sign players in the upcoming transfer window and the 23-year-old seems to be their top priority as the north-London club lacks depth in the forward department and need to strengthen their squad. According to reports from the Telegraph, Chelsea have their eyes set on Timo Werner and could sign the forward in the upcoming January transfer window. The Blues have made attempts to check whether or not the RB Leipzig striker has a release clause which could be activated in the coming month as they look to strengthen their options upfront. The German club have made it clear on various occasions that they will look to keep the forward with the club but there has been confusion regarding Werner’s release clause in recent months. Werner is the second-highest goalscorer in Bundesliga and could be a good addition in this Chelsea side. The German is very versatile as he can play through the middle as well as out on the wings which could give the Blues an added dimension. Along with Werner, Wilfried Zaha, Jaden Sancho, Leon Bailey and Samuel Chukweze are some of the strikers considered by the north-London club.
