The home side dominated the first half and played some of the best football they had played all season. Defending champions came out of the blocks quickly and Erik Paartalu marked his comeback into the side with a goal and handed the defending champions an early lead. After the lead Bengaluru kept pushing on the Chennaiyin goal and 11 minutes later captain Sunil Chhetri scored an absolute stunner to double his sides lead. The away side had their keeper to thank in the first half as without him they could have been trailing by an even bigger margin.
Back with a Bang!
Bengaluru started the second half in the same fashion as they did the first and continued the attack on Chennaiyin’s goal. The Blues kept searching for a third to put the game to bed but were unable to do so. After the 60th minute mark, the tempo of the game dropped as the home side sat back and Chennaiyin found it difficult to break through a solid Blues defence. The chances were few and far between for the away side as the Blues keeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was hardly troubled over the 90 minutes. Substitute Thaongkhosiem Semboi scored late in the second half to seal a comfortable win for the home side. Bengaluru FC saw out the game and earned crucial three points.
Captain Fantastic
First Win
Hero of the Match
Bengaluru are still undefeated and finally get their first win of the season at the fourth time of asking as they put on a clinic in front of their home crowd. Chennaiyin yet again fail to score in a match and have just one point from their four matches this season. The defending champions look well and truly back after an underwhelming start to the season and will be looking to build on this spectacular win.
