Bernardo Silva was snubbed for the Best Football Awards despite playing an influential role in Manchester City’s ride to a historic treble and also guiding Portugal to the inaugural Nations League title in the just concluded 2018-19 football season. Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi led the 10-men short-list for the FIFA Men’s Player of the Year awards, which also included Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane. Silva, who was signed by Man City from Monaco in the summer of 2017 enjoyed his best campaign for the English Premier League champions as City romped off to a record domestic treble. The Manchester club successfully defended its Premier League title beating the second-placed Liverpool by a single point before also lifting the League Cup and FA Cup with City. FIFA's 10-Men Shortlist For Best Player Award

The 24-year-old was described by City coach Pep Guardiola as the English club’s best player during their title-winning 2018-19 EPL season. Silva scored 13 goals for City in the bygone season and enjoyed his best spell in England but has still been snubbed by FIFA for the Player of the Year Award shortlist. Twitter was extremely disappointed and roasted FIFA for including Harry Kane but not Silva.

Meanwhile, FIFA named a 10-men to shortlist for its Best Men's Player of the Year Awards. Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus), Lionel Messi (Barcelona), Frenkie de Jong (Ajax FC), Matthijs de Ligt (Ajax FC), Eden Hazard (Chelsea), Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Sadio Mane (Liverpool), Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) and Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) were all part of the list.

World Cup champion Alex Morgan (Orlando Pride), Megan Rapinoe (Reign FC), Rose Lavelle (Washington Spirit) and Julie Ertz (Chicago Red Stars) led the women's nominees for the Best FIFA Women's Player of the Year.
