Alexis Sanchez played his second game behind closed doors at Carrington in a bid to improve his match fitness amidst uncertainty over his uncertainty at Manchester United. The Chilean is seeking a move away from Old Trafford and wants a return to Italy with Inter Milan after failing to impress for the Red Devils. Inter submitted a bid to take the 30-year-old forward on a season-long loan deal before making the move permanent next season. Inter wishes to complete the signing before the European transfer deadline on September 2. Sanchez, who was injured when playing for Chile in the 2019 Copa America in Brazil, played in the hastily arranged club friendly game against Sheffield United alongside United’s Under-23 team that also involved academy products Angel Gomes and James Garner. Club manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also said to have been present for the majority of the game and watched Sanchez. The Chilean was left out of United’s opening two English Premier League games against Chelsea and Wolves and has been instructed to regain full fitness to have any chances of making an appearance.
Manchester United are open to selling the former Arsenal star and Old Trafford flop and has reportedly agreed for a loan deal with Inter. According to a report from Manchester Evening News, Inter have emerged as the favourites to take Sanchez on a loan deal for the 2019-20 season before making the move permanent for £14 next summer. The Serie A side are also ready to pay Sanchez’s half wages during his time at San Siro. Sanchez currently earns £400,000 a week at United.
Reports also state that Man United hierarchies are set to meet Inter board on Thursday to finalise the loan deal which will also involve a deal to make the move permanent next season. Inter are said to have already agreed on personal terms with the player and his agent Fernando Felicevich for the move. Both parties are forcing United to complete the loan deal before the transfer deadline.
“There's still a couple of weeks left of the transfer window," Solskjaer told Sky following United’s 1-1 draw at Molineux Stadium. "2-3 clubs have shown interest in Alexis, so we'll see what happens. But for now, he is our player. Can't update you more than that."
