Croatia’s Mario Mandzukic scored an own goal and gave the much required led to the team. French President Emmanuel Macron who himself was a football player during his early days, was also there at the stadium to cheer the lads. In fact, he even met the team before they left for the mega event in Russia. With each goal, Macron jumped with joy and was seen quite animated throughout the match in the stands.
After the final whistle, Emmanuel Macron ran on the pitch amidst the heavy downpour. He celebrated the victory with the boys seemed quite unperturbed with the rains. Macron was even seen performing the famous dab with the Benjamin Mendy and star midfielder Paul Pogba in the changing room. The video of the same went viral. After winning the match, Antoine Griezmann said, “I don't realise yet what it is. I'm very proud of this team: the players and the staff, the technical staff and medical staff. We were really a united group," said France forward. "We did something incredible, we made history and we are going to enjoy it. We're going to see our families and we're going to party. Tomorrow in France will be the same, we're going to party with the French people," he further added.
