Lionel Messi’s Argentina suffered a heartbreaking victory against Croatia by 0-3 and are staring at elimination from the group stage itself. This was one of the heaviest defeats that Argentina faced in the group stages of World Cup. They had suffered a humiliating defeating against Czechoslovakia by 1-6 back in 1958. It was Willy Caballero’s silly mistake that helped Argentina get the first goal. Ante Rebic, Modric and Ivan Rakitic scored one goal each.
Lionel Messi’s looked extremely disoriented as compared to Croatia. Fans were extremely disappointed with Argentina’s performance and thus vented out their frustration on Twitter. While a few blamed Argentina captain Lionel Messi for the loss, the others said that the team looked chaotic on the field. Check out a few comments below.
“Brilliant from Modric but in all the years of watching Argentina I can’t remember them ever having such a poor side,” read a tweet.

“Think they have been a shambles for nearly 2 years! Barely made the tournament and clearly their gaffer has no idea how to balance their squad/team! Too many players with the no tracky backy attitude,” tweeted a netizen.

After the match, Jorge Sampaoli said that he was responsible for the loss. "Leo is limited because the team doesn't gel ideally with him as it should. I would beg fans for their forgiveness. I am responsible. Some of the players didn't manage to play with my system, I probably didn't set up my team in the right way,” he said.
