Germany making an exit from the 2018 FIFA World Cup from the group stage came as a rude shock to their fans. The Germans lost to South Korea by 0-2 which marked their exit from the mega event. This is only the second time that the team has been eliminated from the first round of the World Cup. It was in 1938 that the team go eliminated from the group stage itself. The players and the fans were obviously dejected with the loss.
A few hours ago, Germany’s Mesut Ozil put out a post on Instagram stating how disappointed he was after the team made an exit from the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He posted a picture where he not only spoke about their season at the World Cup but also included the hashtag 'Say no to Racism'. He posted the picture with a caption, “Having to leave the World Cup already after the group stage hurts so much. We just weren't good enough. I'll need some time to get over it. #SayNoToRacism #Worldcup #Russia2018 #M1Ö @dfb_team.”
After losing the match, Joachim Löw expressed his disappointment to the press. He said, “I’m shocked. Shocked because we didn’t manage to pull it off and beat the Korea Republic and we lost this game. It wasn’t my impression when I spoke to the team before that they were under pressure before the match because the Sweden game was on at the same time and we really had the feeling that our team wanted to move ahead and qualify for the knockout stages. How do we go from here? We’ll have to talk about it calmly and I think it’s premature for me to say something. It will take me some hours to come to terms with it and I’m incredibly disappointed by this elimination. Do I think this will bring about a dark time in German football? No, I don’t think so. I think we have young players who are very talented, and some have the potential to go forward. This has happened to other nations before, we just have to draw the right conclusions and make it better going forward."
