The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has issued an apology for goofing up with the Indian flag during a promotional event ahead of the Women’s hockey world cup 2018 in London. During the event, which took place on the banks on river Thames, the Indian flag was seen without the Ashoka Chakra. It apparently didn’t go well with the Indian fans. Reportedly, Hockey India also communicated the same to FIH. Interestingly, Narinder Batra heads the FIH.
“Upon noticing the mistake, the FIH immediately contacted the photoshoot organisers Vitality, who corrected the India flag as quickly as possible. We apologise for any offence caused,” Times of India quoted an FIH spokesperson as saying. Hockey World Cup Preview: Indian Women's Team to Face Hosts England.
Captains of all the 16 teams who are participating in the tournament were photographed along with the national flags of their respective countries. Indian women’s team captain Rani Rampal also tweeted the image from the event. However, after realising the error, she deleted the post.
