Switzerland, August 17: Esow Alban created history on Thursday when he became the first Indian to win medal at the Junior Track Cycling World Championships. Alban hails from Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and claimed silver medal in the men's Keirin event on the second day of the event in Switzerland.
Alban's silver rush means India's first-ever medal at any cycling World Championships event.
Alban reportedly trains at the Sports Authority of India’s National Cycling Academy in Delhi. He was congratulated by the Department of Sports MYAS- Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. Check the tweet below:

His effort was also lauded by the Union Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore for getting India the first ever medal at any cycling World Championships event. Check his congratulatory tweet below:

Alban missed the gold by 0.017 seconds and the first place was won by Czech Republic as Jakub Stastny managed to cross the finish line before Alban. Earlier this year, Alban was crowned the Asian Junior champion, and became the first Indian to achieve that distinction.
