Young Elavenil Valarivan capped off an impressive 2019 as she clinched a gold medal in ISSF World Cup Final in China. Valarivan won the 10m Air Rifle event after scoring 250.8 points in the finals. The young prodigy clinched India’s second gold medal of the day as earlier Manu Bhaker bagged a gold medal in the 10-meter shooting event, which was the first gold medal for India in the tournament. The youngster's first spot looked in jeopardy after shooting 9.4 in her penultimate shot, but the gap proved too much in the end for Lin Ying-Shin to recover from as Valaravin won by 0.1 points. Another Indian who participated in the event was Mehuli Ghosh but the youngster missed out on the podium finish as she finished the event with 163.8 points. Kwon Eunji finished fifth with 186.4 points while China’s Wang Luayo was at the fourth spot with 207.2 points. Manu Bhaker Clinches Gold in Women’s 10m Air Pistol Event of 2019 Asian Shooting Championships.

In other results, Abhishek Verma and Saurabh Choudhary missed out on a medal in men’s 10m air pistol event as they finished fifth and sixth respectively with their final shooting scores of 179.4 and 159.8. Verma had topped the qualification round with a score of 588, while Chaudhary finished seventh with a score of 581. Shahzar Rizvi, the third Indian in action in the same event, failed to make the final after shooting a score of 577 in the qualification round to finish 12th.
