Chand recently became the first Indian to win a gold medal in women's 100-metre sprint at the 30th Summer University Games in Naples, Italy and then broke her own record in the 100 m race. The year 2019 has been a crucial year in the life of Dutee Chand. Firstly, she came out in the open about his homosexuality. Earlier, Cosmopolitan featured her on their digital cover for the month of July, after she became the first Indian sportsperson to openly declare that she’s in a same-sex relationship. Recently, she came appeared in the celebrity episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 11, along with another sprinter Hima Das and former cricketer Virender Sehwag. During the episode, she revealed about the struggle she had to face in her journey to become an athlete. In 2014, The Athletic Federation of India (AFI) had dropped her from the Commonwealth contingent at the last moment stating that her medical condition, hyperandrogenism, made her ineligible to participate as a female athlete.
