The 2018-19 domestic season will witness more than 2000 matches which will include the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the Ranji Trophy and the Deodhar Trophy. The season will kick-start with women’s Challenger Trophy which is scheduled to begin from August 13. Duleep Trophy will start from August 17- September 8. Vijay Hazare trophy which is generally played in the month of February- March is scheduled to happen from September 19- October 20.
The tournament will have about 160 matches played. Deodhar Trophy i.e. four days games will be held from October 23-27. The Ranji Trophy will begin from November 1 and will end on February 6. The event will have a total of 153 games played in the league stages. Whereas, seven games will be played in the knock-out stages. The domestic season will end with the conclusion of Irani and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on March 14.
The 37 teams participating in the Ranji season will also be a part of the one day and domestic tournament. The teams are divided in Group A, B and C. Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Puducherry, Sikkim and Uttarakhand are the teams added in the plate division. 5 teams from Group A, a couple of squads from Group B and one team from the plat division will qualify for the quarter-finals. The team from qualifying from plate division will be promoted to Group C next year. Teams at the bottom of the table from Group A and B will be demoted to Group C. The last team from Group C will be pushed to the plate division next year.
The domestic T20 tournament will have 5 Groups with A and B having 8 teams and the rest of them having 7 squads. Top two teams from each group will qualify for the next stage and finally, the squads will play finals.
