In the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2018 (CWG 2018) in Gold Coast, Brandon Starc, brother of Australian cricketer Mitchell Starc has won a gold medal in the high jump. The younger starc was the only athlete to clear the 2.32m bar. With it, Brandon became the first Australian to bag a high jump gold medal since 1994. Star, who is currently nursing an injury, took to Twitter and posted a video of his brother's winning effort. "Get in there boy! Gold medal at the Com games! Bloody awesome … super proud young fella.,” senior Starc tweeted.

Meanwhile, after winning the gold Brandon told one of the TV channels that it was an incredible feeling. When asked if he's emerged from his big brother's shadow, Brandon, who was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au, said: "I don't know, It's a big shadow to come out of, maybe a bit more than what it was.”

"It was surreal rally. Just incredible, I have no words. I'm going to be in tears (for the medal ceremony). I'm going to love every moment of it,” the junior Starc added.

Mitchell, who was picked by Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League, was ruled out of the tournament due to a tibial bone stress reaction in his right leg. The pacer also missed Australia's fourth Test against South Africa due to the injury and was replaced by Chadd Sayers. In KKR team, the Australian was replaced by English pacer Tom Curran.
