Zubayr Hamza came to South Africa’s rescue and registered his maiden Test half-century in the third day of third India vs South Africa Test. Following the early dismissal of the openers, the right-handed batsman came to bat at number three in the evening of Day 2 and displayed great resilience against the potent Indian bowling attack. The batsman showed great intent and brilliantly tackled the likes of Umesh Yadav and Mohammad Shami. Along with playing cautious cricket, the batsman didn’t let go of any scoring opportunity and scored runs at a rapid pace. After warming the benches in the first two Tests, the latter got the place in the third clash. The batsman grabbed the chance with both hands and made a mark for himself. This was also Hamza’s maiden Test fifty and it couldn’t come in a better time. Earlier in the day, South Africa came to bat reeling at 9/2. Skipper Faf du Plessis was dismissed early but Hamza didn’t lose his focus and played a fabulous knock. The youngster is currently batting with Temba Bavuma and the duo will want to guide the Proteas to a big score.

In the first innings, Rohit Sharma scored a scintillating double ton and powered India to a massive score of 497 runs. In reply, the visitors lost both the openers early and the onus was on the team’s middle-order. As of now, India are looking all set for a 3-0 clean sweep while the Proteas will aim to turn the tables around.
