Mumbai, April 23: Star Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh, on Monday, made an official announcement on his retirement plans. Currently, an out-of-flavour in the Indian One Day International (ODI) team, Yuvraj is hopeful of making a comeback in the Indian team for ICC Cricket World that will be held in England next year. After continuous dismal performances in the recent outings in the Indian Premier League (IPL), under-pressure Yuvraj has said that he will take a call regarding his retirement after 2019.

Talking to media at an event Yuvraj Singh said, “I will take a call when that year is over. Everybody has to take a decision after a while. I have been playing international cricket since 2000, it has been almost 17-18 years on and off. So, I will definitely take a call after 2019.” Is the south-paw hinting towards his retirement?

Currently, the southpaw is playing for Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2018. In the five matches that he has played, Yuvraj has managed to score only 36 runs with a dismal strike rate below 100.

Yuvraj Singh has been one of the star-performers in India’s triumphant campaign at ICC Twenty20 World Cup in 2007 and ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011. The six-towering sixes on six balls off Stuart Broad’s over at Kingsmead, in South Africa, is etched in every fans’ eyes. There have been a lot of ups and downs in Yuvraj Singh’s career since he made his debut against Kenya in 2000.

Will he be able to make the Indian squad for ICC World Cup 2019 is selectors’ call! However, with the current form that he is in, it is highly improbable for Yuvraj Singh to make the cut.

We have seen Yuvraj Singh make comebacks throughout his career, not to forget he beat Cancer only a few years back. If at all he makes to the Indian team, it will be a fitting tribute to the flamboyant Indian batsman, but will he?
