For a few days now, the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bangalore has been in the eye of the storm. Especially after the BCCI official spoke to a news agency about Wriddhiman Saha’s injury. The official said that the way NCA handled Sunrisers Hyderabad wicket-keeper’s injury was a complete goof up. The BCCI clarified that Saha will undergo a surgery in Manchester. Now, India’s left-hander Yuvraj Singh came out to defend the cricketing body.

Yuvraj took to Twitter and wrote, “Hearing criticisms abt NCA. I wud like to share my experience that the reason why I was able to bounce back aftr cancer was the national cricket academy a great facility created by @bcci to help players recover frm injuries with the help of best Physios & trainers in the country.”

Talking about Saha’s injury, the BCCI yesterday in sending out a press release wrote, “Wriddhiman Saha has sustained a posterosuperior labral tear. He will undergo surgery on his shoulder in Manchester at the end of July or the 1st week of August," the board said in a statement. "The labral repair surgery will be done by Dr. Lennard Funk in Manchester, UK. The entire course of treatment and consultation that was carried out at the NCA was performed in coordination with the India Team management and the GM of Operations."

The release further stated that Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, an orthopaedic surgeon at Mumbai's Kokilaben Ambani Hospital. "Pardiwala opined that another steroid injection would assist Saha's recovery. He also stated that should the injury not respond to the injection, then surgery would be necessary. Post the injection, after observation and rehabilitation for five days, when his condition had not improved, he was declared unfit on the 13th of July and the India team management was informed of the same," the BCCI stated.
