Yuvraj Singh’s timing of choosing and skipping Ranji Trophy 2018-19 matches has not gone well with the fans. Ahead of the Indian Premier League 2019 (IPL 2019) auction, which was held on December 18, Yuvraj made himself available for the ongoing Ranji Trophy for Punjab. He played three matches for the team and now as the IPL 2019 auctions are over, Yuvraj decided to skip Punjab’s match against Hyderabad. Yuvraj’s decision to give Ranji Trophy game a miss has irked fans who have alleged the southpaw of being selfish. Fans evidently were upset with senior cricketers decision. One of the Twitter users wrote, “He played just for ipl auction, After the auctions were over, opted out of todays match against hyderabad, such a selfish player [sic].”
Another Twitter user alleged that in the three matches Yuvraj played in the buildup to the 2019 IPL auction the senior cricketer blocked youngster’s place in the team. In three games, Yuvraj had an opportunity to bat four times and returned with scores of 24, 4, 9 and 41. He also picked two wickets. At the 2019 IPL auction, Yuvraj was picked by Mumbai Indians for his base price of INR 1 Crore. The left-handed batsmen went unsold in the first round and was later snapped by the Rohit Sharma-led side.
