Former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh made a strong verbal attack on MS Dhoni on the issue of Ambati Rayudu’s retirement. Father of former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh called the Indian wicket-keeper filthy, reiterating that Ambati Rayudu should return to cricket. “Rayudu, my son you took the decision in haste. Come out of retirement and show them what you are capable of. People like MS Dhoni will not remain forever, filth like these will not remain forever,” the 61-year-old veteran cricketer was quoted by NNIS Sports News as saying. Yograj, who has been critical of Dhoni in the past too, accused the right-handed batsman of overlooking Rayudu’s selection in the team which led the latter to announce his retirement from cricket. Rayudu, who was part of Indian reserve squad of World Cup 2019, was snubbed by BCCI while selecting a replacement for injured Shikhar Dhawan and Vijay Shankar during ongoing Cricket World Cup 2019. Pointing out that 33-year-old Rayudu has a lot of cricket left in him, Singh said, “Rayudu should’ve continued playing, more and more. He should’ve played Ranji Trophy, Irani Trophy, Duleep Trophy, scoring 100s, 200s, 300s with not outs. He still has a lot of cricket left in him.”
Earlier on several occasions, Singh, who played one Test and six ODIs for India, had accused Dhoni of not doing justice to his son Yuvraj Singh. The left-handed batsman retired from international cricket on June 10, 2019.
